John Keells HIV and AIDS Master Trainers carried out a series of awareness sessions for Jetwing Hotel employees upon receiving a request from Lanka Business Coalition on HIV and AIDS (LBCH). The sessions commenced on 08th May 2012 with the passing of the “Red Cushion” by Mr. Kishu Gomes, Chairman LBCH to Mr. Hiran Cooray, Managing Director of Jetwing Hotels.
In their speeches both Kishu and Hiran stated that they greatly appreciate the support extended by the John Keells Group in educating the employees of Jetwing Hotels on HIV and AIDS. They both stated that this is a classic example of how two Corporates who compete with each other on business could come together and help each other as good corporate citizens.
John Keells trainers conducted a total of 09 awareness sessions on the 08th, 09th, 15th and 18th of May at Jetwing Lagoon, Jetwing Sea and Jetwing Blu in Negombo and The Lighthouse Hotel in Galle, educating a total of 463 employees.
John Keells Foundation which has been a member of the Board of LBCH since inception has under its John Keells HIV and AIDS Awareness Campaign launched in 2005, educated a cumulative total of 42,280 persons as at 31st March 2012. The Campaign targets prevention through awareness, covering a wide scope of people ranging from the employees of the John Keells Group and communities around its business locations to other corporate entities, most at-risk persons and the general public.
